Traveling to and from Joensuu

Finnair has updated the flight schedule for the Helsinki–Joensuu–Helsinki route. The travel details below reflect the situation as of Mar 27, 2026. For the latest schedules and booking details, please visit the Finnair website.

The easiest way to reach Joensuu is by air. On May 22, Finnair offers a direct flight from Helsinki to Joensuu, departing at 17:00 and arriving at 18:05. For the return trip from Joensuu to Helsinki, there are two convenient flight options via Finnair:

Sunday, May 24, departing from Joensuu at 17:55. This flight allows connection to Stockholm (arrival at 20:25).
Monday, May 25, departing from Joensuu at 05:30. This early flight connects to Stockholm (arrival at 07:15), as well as Oslo and Reykjavík (arrival at 07:50).

Remark: There has been an update to how the airport bus service operates in Joensuu. Route 4 will now be extended from Onttola to Joensuu Airport on nearly all departures. In addition, Route 6 will serve passengers arriving on flight AY349 and departing on flight AY350. Please note that Route 4 operates strictly according to its published timetable and will not adjust to changes in flight schedules. Timetables can be found in the Journey Planner.

An alternative way to reach Joensuu is by train, which is cheaper but takes a little bit more time. For more information, see the VR website.

Accommodation

Conference venue

The venue for the conference is the Metria building, located at Yliopistokatu 7 on the Joensuu campus of the University of Eastern Finland.
